Music
The music on the album is orchestral music inspired by the folklore and history of the West coast of Ireland – and in particular the area around Ceide Fields. The composer, Paul Neville, has been writing this music in his workplace a few miles away from Ceide Fields.
The album is also currently available on Amazon worldwide, iTunes, CDBaby and all major digital online distributors.
The family of the composer have been living in Belderg (or Belderrig) for nearly two hundred years and still live there now. For many generations they have been farming and working the land but were unaware that just below their feet (and not far from the surface) were the remains of a society very similar to their own from nearly 6,000 years ago!
The discovery of this ancient neolithic site was made by the Caulfield family of Belderg. The poet and Nobel Prize recipient Seamus Heaney wrote a poem called “Belderg” after staying with the family in the village. One of the tracks on this “Ceide Fields” album is that same poem set to music and read by the Irish actor Adrian Dunbar.
